Not A Long Post

I'm hearing word that my last post was too long. So here you have a condensed movie review and a few other words...to keep it short. We watched Top Gun for the first time with our kids. It went like this:

TOM CRUISE:

Ooo, see my big muscles and sweet shades?

(my girls swoon and then laugh and then ask about scientology)

VAL KILMER:

You're a poser, look at me pick my teeth since I'm the coolest ever

(my kids ask if that guy is the Willow guy, we all laugh and say "KAYA!!!" 32 times)

Planes, volleyball, making out, more planes, goose dies, then Tom saves Val

Everybody loves eachother

(my kids high five)

I still don't think that I have ever seen the whole thing of this freakin movie!

When ever I think of Tom Cruise:
Tooth in the middle of his face

Val Kilmer:
"Out of the way Peck!"

Ashley O said...

Yes Lydia!!! I love u! Um, I didn't know Goose died...so thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I lied just now.

Alli Easley said...

You're a liar, that's why. I love you!

Oh and Lyd YES!!! He does have a damn tooth in the middle of his face! SICK! That has always bugged me.

I only like Tom Cruise when he is on Celebrity Jeopardy.

"It's so early. Does anyone want some coffee or somesing?" I have always been a bigger fan of Manmartigan than Mr. Cruise. Too bad Val's career is in the pot.

Can anyone not laugh when they hear the name Kaya? I started lauging when I heard someone had named a little girl in our old ward that name. I got caught too. Luckily when I explained myself, the other person started laughing too. Few!

When Curtis's brother told us that they liked that name for their unborn girl Curtis and I looked at each other and laughed. They both had never seen Willow so they didn't get our humor. They ended up still using it agains our laughs but I must say she is a cute girl.

Alli Easley said...

haha did you call him Manmartigan? hahahaha I'm laughing at that. over.

Alli Easley said...

while I'm at it, I'll tip my 40 High Aldwin.

Ah! Well, I don't feel so bad considering I haven't seen that movie since I was 9. I need to buy it! My kids NEED to see that, along with Never Ending Story, Flight of the Navigator, and CRAP... I forgot the name!!! What is the name of the that movie where the guy plays the video game and it is actually real, and they send a droid in his place. His friend is some lizard face man? Holy moly. It is right on the tip of my tounge. Help! Anyway, that one too.

I have The Last Stizzyfizzy on DVD. I remember seeing it the same day we went to the VONS grand opening. You know the one....Jones and Cheyenne. Anyway, we got those VONS beachballs which I believe the Oblad's threw in for free when they sold the St. George condo. Along with a few other things: the lamps with victorian naked women on them, the "Dukes of Hazzard" card game, the mirror Eric and I used to burn the retina of the swimmers, a plethera of sandstone shards which were autographed by many a youth, the picture of Kali Ma (shupde day, "O num shivai, O num shivai") and her many arms of power, a vaccum from 1929, the fan in the kithcen, the side cabinet we used to hide in, the bamboo-esque window shades we put outside, many a dried worm which were scorched into the sidewalk to the pool (does anyone else's teeth hurt thinking about the texture of that sidewalk?), a couple of crab apples, a 24 pack of Apple Beer, an antique Clue game, ankle tags for the pool, the key to the clubhouse, a two seater bike, a cable box where you had to slide a piece of plastic back and forth to change the channel, the keyring to hold the ankle tags for the pool, a sheet which may only be used during Ghost hunts, 4 tennis rackets, a set of crappy golf clubs, a clost full of Wrangler and Levi Strauss jeans (I wish I would have kept Grandpa's collection of cowboy shirts, they are so in right now), a clock from the St. George Marathon, a couple of hats from the St. George Marathon, 5 floaties/boxing gloves, an original water color of a duck by Goldie, a bush that produced some berries that could be used to simulate blood, a complete set of encyclopedias Eric and I pulled out of the dumpster and hid by the front door, 455445 Disney coloring books, 37583 Pizza Factory shirts, the golden tiger with red ruby eyes at the entrance of the complex, the plans for turning on the electricity while the whole family has to wait in the dark car until you return, coupons to hydrotube, coupons for Nielsen's Frozen Custard, and a flower mat with suction cups so you don't fall in the shower. Anything else I missed?

Alli Easley said...

Year books from The Dixie College that had grandpa's name in them for his donations to the college, a tomato pin cushion with pins in it, shoe laces, red berries on the side of the condo that did NOT taste good, snails, burning your feet running back from the pool, sneaking onto the golf course to steal golf balls, the ferns in the back yard of the condo, cran-apples, the ancient food in the cupboards, place cards made by me, eliza and Goldie for our "elegant dinners" we'd serve to the adults

Alli Easley said...

oh you said crab apples...

...how about the rocks carved by everyone who'd conquered the red mountain, old a$% sunscreen, the golf clubs in the closet downstairs, 2141254 floaties with holes in them in the laundry room, the tandem-bike, the station wagon in the garage, spiders everywhere, the tiny closet/nursery in the twin bedroom, the coolness of the room upstairs with the white bedspread, old deodorant, old red lipstick in the master cupboard, bottles of aspirin from 1962

Taylor said...

Good call on the tomato pin cushion

Taylor said...

Did you read my comment? and yes the asprin and sunscreen.

The cabinet by the dining room table with 4628698267283 napkins in them yet be brought a new package each time we went. Tennis balls purchased from Ben Franklin's.

Alli Easley said...

Yes, I missed the crab-apples and red berries.

Taylor said...

Alli Easley said...

haha yes the napkins!

what about the plastic lace tablecloth on the table that made it impossible to draw on the thing, or the owl picture near the kitchen, or that big round pot with a lid on it on the dining room back table.

Taylor said...

or the incredible entertainment center AKA roller cart

Alli Easley said...

hahaha yes! or the itchy bedspreads in the twin room, the candy dish thing on the counter between the kitchen and the dining room

Taylor said...

Which is better golden velour chairs of Grandma C's green plastic saloon doors?

Alli Easley said...

That's a hard question. I do love the golden velour chairs, but the plastic saloon doors are timeless. I was wishing I had them the other day.

Ashley O said...

Um, chello!!! the carpet, Wimbledon, the random chair in the corner by the sliding glass door, hanging the wet towels outside on the wall/gate, the roll down sunshades, the glass table that was a half inch thick, a We Are the World cassette tape in the twin bedroom, the fish lamp with a broken tail, the darkness of the twin bedroom which made me sleep in til 4pm, golf tees, 8 sets of Rook, checkers/chess, Taylor stepping on a tie tack pin, the cheez-it ottomans, the stepdown-stepup step from the twin room to the rest of the upstairs, the scary twin bedroom closet, the lil chinese dolls (one of which i now own), toothpaste circa 1978, Lysol circa 1954, the pompom bedspread in the 'white' room, the lil bench downstairs by the staircase that matched the ones we had in Vegas, the mirror in the entry, the cool hanging lamp outside the door, the windows by the front door, making fried zucchini with goldfish crackers and ritz, SMACKS! aka "candy", Wonder Bread, the last cupboard that held the ankle tags and pool key, the scary desolate clubhouse, the hornet's nests in the roof of the scary, desolate clubhouse...wow, keep em coming!!!

-KJ said...

What about the scary art of what ever the crap it was in the hall closet? Yikes! I actually have no idea what it was because I was always too scared to look.
How about the sheets on the furniture or sneeking into the clubhouse to play pool.

shauna said...

How about the paper clip that I got stuck in my ear...The wrought iron gate-doors in the middle bathroom/putting the glass table away so no one got their head bashed ala Spencer Bailey/Something else in the 7th hole at the golf course/Slush made from Kool Aid/Trips to Ben Franklin...I'll think of more...Ryan's comment to Dad re: Where he could kick him!!!

Oh and the plum tree in the front yard. Each time before we went back to Vegas he would pick 47932392 of them and put them in plastic bags from 1981. We never would finish eating all of them but at least we tried our hardest.
